"A- Anti Social Networking"

If you are reading these old April A-Z Postings from 2011 you may notice that many of them have been removed and replace with blunt cards. The reason they are part of a writing project of short stories that I am working on right now.

  1. I guess there are people who find it comforting to live in fantasy. :)

  2. This made me smile!

I actually gave up Facebook for Lent - I got fed up of constant notifications that enticed me in; some of them were just from comments I'd 'liked', for goodness sake!

    I ignore the game-requests and if I get a 'friend-request' from someone I don't know I tend to ignore them - especially if they're friends-of-friends-of-friends......!

As for Farmville - I can't believe grown people are structuring their time around this virtual activity - has the world gone mad? :-0

Still, Day 1 of the challenge and you've put a smile on my face! ;-)

SueH I refuse to go quietly!

  3. Oh my. Has to stay in to feed her Farmville animals?

I've set my Facebook so that friends of friends don't see me. Also, I just plain don't do apps. Not the game ones at least. Requests to play Farmville are ignored. It greatly simplifies my life!

Good luck with your Farmville friends!

  4. I love Facebook. I do agree those farmville...mafia games and all others are a pain in the arse. When I get a request, I decline then block that complete App. No more invites!!!! :D

  5. Love this post! I love the "Hide all games" or whatever! Love your byline for your site! Looking forward to this month's articles!

I signed up today - so it will really be seat of the pants for me! Here is my musing for the day!

  6. Sheesh! That's so not the point of social networks...This is indeed tragic.

  7. Thought provoking you are! I gave up FB games for lent, the only one I plan to take back up is Words with Friends (I justify it as helping my writing {smile}). I'm visiting from the AtoZ Challenge - nice to meet you!

  8. I never play these games so I don't really know what you're talking about. I am glad I'm ignoring the messages.

  9. I don't bother with all that app crap, tried it once, bored the hell out of me. I once accepted a friend req from someone who was friends with my sister, he ended up stalking me, was getting literally 20 messages a day, he even sent me crap on my birthday and then ask 'have I done something wrong' when I didn't reply. Funny thing is I'd never even said hi to the guy, but because I accepted that made us friends lol :)

  10. This post made me laugh, it is however so true. I wonder how people get 1000s of friends on FB, I guess you are a friend of a friend of a friend.
Look me up on Facebook lol.....

  11. I know what you mean! It's so annoying! And I hate when people add you on there who don't even know you! Grrrr!

  12. I used to join a game because someone needed a neighbor for something. Than I just quit caring and got rid of all of them and ignore the new invites that I get. Those games are so boring.

  13. Yet another reason I am glad I'm not on Facebook.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I turned off all invites and just avoid the games on Facebook. No time!

  15. LOL. I don't do the apps. I mean who has time to do fantasy jobs when there are so many real ones.

  16. I have real animals to feed, so pretend ones don't really interest me.

  17. I seriously don't get the whole farmville attraction - and there's another one where you collect jewels ???? Re.tard.ed

  18. LOL! I used to be a Farmville addict but I have been reformed. That was before my blogging days and hopefully blogging is a little more productive :)

  19. "I have real animals to feed, so pretend ones don't really interest me." - I could not have said it better! Great first post!

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. I had surgery on Thursday and am doing much better.

  20. Oh my goodness! I am seriously hoping you didn't really have to deal with people like that?? I mean, I can't deny I enjoy me some Castleville, but it doesn't come before real life and I don't berate people who don't play it. Also, I was that person who starved my animals on the farm and starved my fish and left their tank dirty in some fish game. So I sold off everything on my property and blocked the games! Felt good.

  21. HaHa, I went through a time when I was hooked to Farmtown and actually planted crops according to the amount of time it would take to harvest them when I went out of town so I'd be back in time! LOL I no longer do that, but I know the feeling of anyone who does. ;) I get those invites from time to time and just ignore them. I'm too nice to tell people to quit sending them to me. :)

  22. I totally blogged about this in one of the points I made in my A to Z intro.

You are funny. We will be friends. Oh, yes. We will be.

  23. This is hilarious. I deleted my Facebook account about 6 months ago and I don't miss it one bit. I had messaged all of my FB "friends" and gave them my contact information. If they really want to stay connected with me, they can either email me or call. There's less drama in my life without FB and I love it. Good luck in the Challenge.

  24. Not a fan of FarmVille nor do I understand it. I'd much rather divulge in other things. :)

  25. Thanks for all the comments, and my friend does have some serious problems with that game. Doubtful she reads this blog posting because she is no doubt busy on the farm. :) I am probably an enabler by constantly accepting the neighbor requests for apps I never even play. :/

  26. I busted out laughing! Funny post, but I can't believe the nerve of some ppl. Farmville is not real! I don't understand why they treat it as such. ugh!
Smiles! And see you for B!!!

  27. I am sad to admit that I have a friend that actually bought Farmville credits or something so that he could have the most pimped out farms.

I'm like you, I have enough crap to do without worrying about cleaning up cow shit and feeding my friends animals.

BTW, There is something where you can block game requests.

Looking forward to reading more posts:)

  28. LMAO! OMG! I play bingo on there but I have a separate profile for that. Sometimes I go weeks without playing and that is when the nasty notes come. I think I have a fish tank, a vitrual pet or two, and a Sims charactor who are looking to press neglect charges against me. I am sure the facebook police will take me away any day now LMAO! Good post! Can't wait to read more.

  29. I'm still laughing! Thanks for saying it all out loud!
    I'd rather be crafting!

  30. I don't play game apps on Facebook. When I hear Farmville and Mafia Wars mentioned, I immediately think 'waste of time.'

In fact, FB seems to be a waste of time when you have 10,000 plus followers and don't know 9,000 of them. lol

  31. So funny, yet so true. If you want a farm, plant one... a real one that gets your hands dirty and grows real food.

  33. I have to admit, I am one of those that is addicted to a Facebook game, My Gourmet Ranch, I just like games. Although recently I have taken a disliking for Facebook, I am only still there for the fact that it is an accumulation of my memories and events with people over 4 years now. Like what you speak about, I dislike the anti-social side of the social networking site. But at the same time, it's difficult to escape it's grasp.

  34. I really hate those games. I just ignore the invites when I get them.
