"L Lessons From Daytime Drama"

  1. Soaps are definitely not reality. My mom watches some, but many of her favorites have been cancelled.

  2. Honestly, I don't watch soaps, but that's because I don't watch TV during the day. I just don't have time. Besides, if I saw all those perfect people coming out of surgery, I'd get depressed. I couldn't possibly look that way, even if I was in perfect health! :-)

  3. My mother hooked me on Days of Our Lives at the tender age of 8. The drying out period was horrible but my job helped me out throught that period.

What I find amazing about soaps is the same shit is still going on 15 years later.

  5. I used to watch soaps in college, but that was a LONG time ago. Funny how time moved sooo slow you could skip watching them for a month and not miss anything. I also took note of how everyone IS rich and comfortable and perfect, even after surgery. :D

  6. I use to watch OLTL, AMC, and General Hospital sometimes. Than life got busy and 2 out of 3 were cancelled. General Hospital, I was away for so long. I watched it one day and wondered who all these people were.

  7. My Grandma was also an As the World Turns fan and she got me hooked on it. When I was away at camp for a week, she'd send me letters with updates on my favorite story lines so I wouldn't miss out. Believe it or not, it made me very popular with other campers at mail time.

Just stopping by from the A to Z challenge. Good luck with the rest!

  8. Soaps are different in the UK. There is some reality in the story lines and the characters are not physically (or morally) perfect- but babies still seem to arrive suspiciously fast! I don't watch any, because I have a family= drama quota fulfilled :-)

  9. I haven't watched any soaps since high school.
    I don't miss them.

  10. I have never been a fan of daytime soaps, although I am never home to watch them anyway. I do like some of the evening "soaps" though. At least the time lines are a little more realistic

  11. My mom still watches a soap but I couldn't tell you which one. I never did but I remember in college how everyone would gather in the lobby of the one classroom building and watch a certain soap before the start of 1:00 class. It was weird.

  12. Thanks for the comments on Daytime Drama/Soaps and I used to be guilty of watching them everyday. I lost touch and hadn't watched in so many years. I remember my mom telling me that ATWT was like the longest running soap and started on the radio. As I watched them for a few days I started taking little notes.

  13. I never watched soaps but my friend did and when I went over to her house, I'd watch a few scenes before I got bored--nothing made any sense, they seemed to argue about nothing. And when I returned a week later, they characters were still in the same room arguing about the same situation. What!?

  14. I think my mom used to watch those soap operas. I never did get into them, but I can still randomly recognize actors from a soap here or there. I do wonder if it is her old soaps that were canceled.

  15. Don't they all sleep together too? I know they use to on Y&R. I'm convinced a sexually transmitted disease will kill everyone in Genoa City. lol

  16. I used to watch Days of our Lives when I was younger. It's just escapism and I'm glad there's none showing nowadays to get me hooked on again.

Happy blogging for the A-Z Challenge!

  17. I'm a soap addict from waaaaay back. Port Charles was my favorite, even though it came along much later.

Within the last year, One Life to Live had a character who got fired from the university and then got a job working for a hot dog place. He had to wear a hot dog suit.
