"50 Shades of Bacon"

Remember at the end of 2012 I said that I was hoping to understand just WTH the obsession with bacon is? In a quest to finding answers I found a book a cookbook, 50 Shades of Bacon. Could this be it?
"Fifty Shades of Bacon is an erotic cookbook that delves into the full bacon experience. Okay, it is not erotic at all, but it is a tongue in cheek delivery of some great bacon recipes. Everything from basic bacon bits to bacon ice cream to bacon Au gratin and Alfredo. If you are into bacon, want an interesting conversation piece or are looking for a present for the meat lover in your life, this title is for you. The two main characters, Hamastachia Pink teaches  Mr. BBQ all about the different ways to cook bacon and use of bacon grease in a kinky way. It contains 50 different recipes for bacon in different courses such as “Foreplay”, “Afternoon Delight”, Multiple Orgasms, and Bondage." So what do you think? After reading the recipe names, I think I am getting a little closer to finding out what all the obsession is with bacon. Is bacon the "new" substitute for chocolate? What do you think the bacon obsession is about? Oh and before I forget today is National Peanut Butter Day! I'm pretty excited that one of my favorite food groups has its own day!

  2. @Alex- I am thinking that too! I have friends who just put the word BACON in their status updates and others who find it hilarious. I just don't get it. :/

  4. @JoeH- Hilarious! So was this based on reading the names of the recipes or from just Bacon itself? :)

  5. Around Christmas time, someone provided Steve Harvey with a bacon-flavored lollipop to taste on his show. He was NOT a fan. As I remember, he said something like, "Oh, hell no!" as he tossed it aside. Sure, I like a good ol' BLT sandwich, but some things just don't NEED to taste like bacon. Ice cream? YUK!

On the OTHER hand, now peanut butter is another matter altogether...

  9. I'm not sure what the fascination with bacon is but when I was pregnant, I had a huge craving for it...though I had been a vegetarian for over 20 years. But as with cravings, I just had to have it. The craving lasted 2 weeks and those where the best 2 weeks of my life.

Glad to see peanut butter getting the recognition it deserves. :)

  10. LOL! I guess the shades would be between raw and burnt. But what about Sizzlean? Or veggie bacon?

  11. We tried chocolate dipped bacon at the fair. It was yucky, but the bacon sundae at Burger King was a hit. We're of the mindset everything's better with bacon.

  13. Holy crap I'm buying this book. Such a genius idea!
I don't know why I'm obsessed with bacon. I think it's because it was sorta taboo for a while, since it is basically a heart attack in a pan
